Evolution of coke bottle

The Coca cola drink was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1886. Dr. John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced the syrup for coca cola, and carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs’ Pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced “excellent” and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink.

Carbonated water was teamed with the new syrup to produce a drink that was at once “Delicious and Refreshing,” a theme that continues to echo today wherever it is enjoyed

Frank M. Robinson, suggested the name and penned the now famous trademark coca cola in his unique script.

The soft drink was first sold to the public at the soda fountain in Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta on May 8, 1886.

About nine servings of the soft drink were sold each day. Sales for that first year added up to a total of about $50. The funny thing was that it cost John Pemberton over $70 in expenses, so the first year of sales was a loss.

Until 1905, the soft drink, marketed as a tonic, contained extracts of cocaine as well as the caffeine-rich kola nut.

In 1887, another Atlanta pharmacist and businessman, Asa Candler bought the formula for Coca Cola from inventor John Pemberton for $2,300.

His marketing strategies are the results of what we have as coca cola today basically without him would have no knowledge of the drink.

The original recipe for Coca-Cola is said to be one of the most closely guarded secrets in the world.

There are claims that only two people know it at any given time and can never travel on the same plane in case it crashes.

Part of Coca-Cola’s appeal is its intentionally hyped secrecy; the formula is kept in a vault that even Liberace might consider to be over-the-top.
